Malawi Millennium Development Trust

The Malawi Millennium Development Trust(MMD) was established as a successor institution to Millennium Challenge Account (Malawi) MCA. MMD was established initially to supervise the completion of all outstanding works under the first Malawi Compact (Compact I). Following Malawi's selection as an eligible country to develop a new MCC compact in December 2018, the Government of Malawi designated MMD to oversee the development of this second Compact. Compact I operations closed on January 19, 2019.In developing a compact program, selected countries follow a process that includes five distinct phases, namely; Preliminary Analysis, Problem Diagnosis, Project Definition, Project Development and Project Negotiations. Malawi has currently completed the first two-phase of compact development and is now in the problem definition phase.

The Star Report provides a comprehensive and accessible assessment of MCC’s investments in Malawi. The report builds on MCC’s longstanding commitment to results and accountability
